About Bobby Lambert

Local Leader

Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, Bobby attended St. Columba School and graduated from St. Thomas Academy.

He went on to pursue collegiate baseball at Creighton University, where he discovered a calling to public service.

He later transferred to Mankato State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement while continuing his athletic career.

  • 1996 | Mendota Heights Police Department

    During his tenure he served in:

    • SWAT (15 years) – Retired as Team Commander
    • Use of Force Instructor
    • Firearms Instructor
    • Critical Incident and Active Shooter Instructor
    • Emergency Response training (including 3ECHO model)
  • 2012 | Master’s Degree

    From Concordia University’s St. Paul campus Bobby obtained his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Leadership.

  • 2015 | Mendota Heights Police Department

    Promoted to Sergeant

  • 2017 | Farmington Police Department

    Joined the Farmington Police Department as a Patrol Officer, while continuing to instruct Use of Force.

  • 2023 | Dakota County Sheriff’s Department

    Joined the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office as a Sergeant in 2023. Currently serving as a Transport Sergeant and leads the Use of Force Instructor program.

  • 2026 | Running For Sheriff

    After years of serving the Dakota County community, Bobby is ready to take the next step and lead the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office into the next age of strengthening partnerships between law enforcement and our neighbors.
